We purchased a Keystone Hideout 28BHS in February 2018, our first such purchase. We have generally enjoyed it. My wife lives in it for six weeks during the summer at youth camps. We have taken several long trips and enjoyed both our driving and camping experience. In general, the quality and performance is what we expected and in some cases better. However, we have had a reoccurring problem with the egress window in the master bedroom, it has opened while driving three times. The latching handle has ripped loose from the window. On one failure the blinds were sucked through the screen, destroying both the screen and the blinds. The latch is obviously not adequate to resist the negative pressure of the air passing over it while driving. The first two times the problem was "repaired" with little fuss under warranty. Getting any help with the current failure is proving to be a bit of a challenge. While I understand there are limits to any warranty, there is an obvious material or design problem with this latch. When the same failure occurs repeatedly, it would seem reasonable that the manufacturer has an obligation to come up with a fix. The dealer is also telling me the window frame is warped and the entire window now needs to be replaced at a cost of over $600. They are saying there is no connection between the latch failure causing the window to open and the warped window frame. Is it unreasonable to think that the window opening while driving 60 mph might damage the window frame? Or that the frame like the latch is not designed to resist the pressure exerted on it while driving? Or that the warping of the frame might be contributing to the latch failure? One person told me it was caused by heat. Well, bowing due to solar heating is not a new or mysterious problem. Failure to design for it is an admission of design failure. My experience with solar heating is the the metal moves when heated, but returns to the original position when the heat is removed. I am currently caught in a circular conversation, The the manufacturer and the dealer, where I purchased the trailer, each referring me back to the other. I will update my review once this episode has be concluded.

I purchased my travel trailer March 16 2019. I noticed that the aluminum siding seemed to be warped out from the passenger side near the top between the back door and the back speaker. I notified Keystone about the problem in June 2019 via phone calls and e-mail. I was given a few Keystone dealers of which one was in Lubbock, Texas. I called this Keystone dealer and told them about Keystone giving them as the dealer to contact about the problem. This Keystone dealer asked if I have purchased the unit at their store. I told them that I had purchased the RV in Cleburne, Texas. The Lubbock Keystone dealer said that since I had not purchased the RV at their store they would not be able to help me with any warranty work. I got back with Keystone and they said to take my RV to Camping World ( another authorized Keystone Dealer in Lubbock that was not on the original authorized dealer list sent by Keystone ) I took my RV to Camping World of Lubbock. Camping World of Lubbock advised me that the aluminum siding was letting loose of the aluminum siding. I called Keystone back an talked to the same Retailer Advisor/ Owner Relations at Keystone. She would not go with Camping Worlds advice but said that the unit would have to be placed in a controlled environment to see if the aluminum siding was flexing because of heat and cold. I do not know of any RV dealers around here that would have a controlled environment to do such a test. ( In my opinion the Keystone Representative was simple finding a way to avoid the obvious. ) It is now May of 2020 and I still have the original problem of the siding staples letting the aluminum siding loose but have now noticed that the aluminum siding is doing the same thing on the driver’s side near the front of the RV above the master bedroom window. I would hope that this review would help folks out that are thinking about purchasing a Keystone straight pull trailer that has aluminum siding on it. ( Unhappy in Slaton, Texas 🙁 ) Terry Melugin

My family has loved this RV. With the extra room in the back for the kids, they can enjoy their own space. I would recommend this RV to anyone who has children. We have enjoyed the outdoor kitchen. It's easier for everyone outside to get drinks and eats and not have to go into the camper. Cooking outdoors is always more fun, especially when camping. The large canopy has added extra shade on those hot summer days. There is plenty of cooking space inside and the size makes moving around manageable for everyone. We have loved the two bathrooms, especially when there are children involve. Eating around the u-shaped dinette brings everyone together for enjoyable conversation. The camper is light weight and easy to pull with your truck. When parking, setting up has been quick and easy. If you have a family and love to experience the outdoors, this is the camper for you!

I honestly wished we would have paid closer attention when picking out this camper. There are few outlets and lights on the ceiling with no switches. I am short. The latches on the windows seem like they won't last another summer. A strip in the bathroom wall is coming away already.

The light switches for the main part of the camper are high on the wall near the bathroom door and can only be accessed after entering and climbing two tall steps, 11" each - not good for bad knees! My husband who is 6' tall can reach the switches, I am 5'6" and cannot without climbing the stairs.) Other than that, the only light switch in the camper that is on the wall is in the bathroom, the rest of them you have to reach to the ceiling to turn on. The storage cabinets around the TV are very narrow/shallow they could be twice as deep, provide much more storage and still not infringe the movement of the slide. The tall narrow pantry by the fridge has only two shelves in it therefore there is a lot of wasted space at the top of each compartment. They should have put three shelves in, it would have been a much better use of the space. There is a lot of storage space if you lift up the board for the lower bunk, but it is not easily accessible. This would have been nice to be able to access from the outside as well. Also, the door to the bunkroom opens into the very small floorspace, rather than out into the main room against a wall that only has the thermostat on it. Poor planning! I like the layout of the main cabin with the island. It provides much-needed storage for the kitchen area. I added a short cabinet at the end of the island closest to the door so that we could have easy access to flashlights, etc. This is another area of space that was wasted that should have had a cabinet installed. I like the shelf under the microwave for putting a coffeemaker. The TV is on an arm that extends, making it easy to view from the sofa. The bathroom has a nice linen closet with good storage, and the shower has a bench. I really like the tall cabinet for hang up clothes as well as the dresser in the bedroom. Very nice! This camper has better under storage than many of the campers we looked at. Be aware that most of these models no longer have the sink in the outside kitchen just a short mini fridge and the grill. I have mixed feelings about this camper. I like the layout but the inconvenience/effort of climbing the tall steps just to turn on the interior lights, and the lack of good planning regarding storage, make it very difficult for me to give this a good review. Since we bought this new, we will use the camper for a few years but I'm already thinking about our next one.
